So....my video post didn't happen. There is a reason for that. Mostly because I was having derp issues with Camstudio (i wanted pretty video clips) and secondly because on Friday afternoon I had something of a madcap idea and decided to roll with it.
See I was at the Manchester expo this weekend and on the Friday I thought, 'hmmm, why don't I cosplay as Drusera???' So i grabbed my sewing machine and made a costume that afternoon lol XD I do crazy things like that.
I had to slightly alter it to include a wig as I couldn't get the hood to completely obscure my head like hers does and my facepaint admittedly wasn't great. But as I said, I decided the Friday before to do it.
Know the best part though??? Being Drusera was awesome. I mean I was cosplaying a god. And a damned badass one at that :D Plus people recognised me. Even if I did have to close my eyes for every photo, people recognised me. It made me so freaking happy. And those that didn't but wanted a pic anyway, were awesome because when they asked who I was I got to gush about how awesome a character Drusera is and how brilliant Wildstar is as a game.
I'm not going to lie, I love fangirling about characters I love and I love Drusera. I think for my next project I might have to cosplay as Lyghtning....but which of her costumes to do lol.

Team speak issues and WIND SURFING!!!
No post yesterday...so sorry XD I literally spent an age trying to get Team Speak working on my computer so I could talk to my friends while playing. Finally got the damn thing sorted though and yay for being able to talk to others while playing! Even if said people haven't bought dinosaur mounts. I mean really, who cares about any of the other mounts when you can ride a dinosaur :)
So not much happened yesterday...though I did spend an awful lot of time dead. And this wasn't through mobs, or anything like that. It was through me throwing myself off of cliffs. Admittedly once or twice it wasn't my fault. Once I was getting chased by a dozen mobs, took a wrong turn and fell. And another time I got picked up by a tornado and the land was a loooooooooong way down when it dropped me off lol. Other times it was totally my fault because I wanted to see Rexy fly XD
But I did actually get a quest in the middle of all of this where I HAD to throw myself off the cliff and then wind surf all the way to the ground. That was pretty damn cool :D
Also got a fifth costume slot :D So i spent about an hour going through ALL the costume pieces I've collected up till now and deciding which looked good and which didn't XD Still not 100% happy with costume number 5. Think it might be because she's in booty shorts, but i wanted something a little different to her others. We shall see :)
Anywho, enjoy the pretty-ness of the area I'm in :D Look at all the crystals. Or as the Lopp would say, the shinies.

Fluff!!!
Because basically my last post was pretty sad, this is a fluff post. As in, nothing heavy, just light hearted fluff XD
That and because I've basically been running round Malgrave doing errands for malevolent bunnies all day. Those little critters know how to work you.
Though aside from everything else, i did visit my house today. I don't actually have a house yet, what I have is a floating plot of land with space for a house and some grass. Is there like an in-game tutorial for this because I was thoroughly confused how to visit a neighbour. Even more confused when I tried to place my first bit of decor in my garden. It's a giant Osun forge if you're interested XD Got it doing an adventure type thing today with some friends. An event which gave Lyghtning this rather interesting choice of outfit.
I mean seriously??? I'm Cassian people! I look like a friggin' Aurin/ Jane of the jungle here XD
Also found an awesome quest in Malgrave where you have to sing karaoke. Yes you read that right, Karaoke. It gets a little more involved when you get attacked while singing, but I thought it was a fun little thing to happen upon :D

And I got a head piece I actually like. Up to this point ALL my headpieces have been helmets and have therefore been hidden on my costumes (because my costumes are important lol) but finally I got something cool, a headband :D Don't I just look badass here? Perfect accessory for my fashion concious Lyghtning. And of course it's dyed pink ^_^

Servers down *cries* so about yesterday
Ok so as the servers are down for maintenance right now, what better time than to update on Lyghtning's current adventures.
So yesterday was pretty much me exploring Wilderrun from the awesome cat amazon women (who's queen I shall not name for fear of spoilers but I thought it was awesome :)) to the Lopp having issues with the Osun next door. I love the jungle environment. It's literally beautiful and some of the badguys are brill. The crocodiles down near the Everpool are nasty little critters but are so cool while they kill you lol XD
I also caught sight of these guys wandering around. They kind of look like squirrels but with wings and I watched them eat from the giant glowy ball thing which caused them to puff up like balloons. If you imagine the scene from Shrek where Shrek and Fiona turn a frog and a snake into balloon animals you've pretty much got the idea. Anyway said little squirrels floated up into the air. And that was that, until I was up in the trees later on and saw the little puff balls floating around and going over to each other. That right there is some impressive thinking from the Dev's. It doesn't impact the game at all and is barely noticeable, but noticing it made me appreciate even more how much work has gone into this game.
Kudos Carbine. Kudos.
Got another message from my favourite ghosty lady as well. Drusera came back for a visit, only this time she didn't kill me twice.

Instead she took me to some creepy ass lab that was corrupted with the Strain. Seriously, the whole place was freaky as. Totally reminded me of the Nemesis ride at Alton Towers. In fact that is exactly what i was thinking of while fighting off hordes of strain mutations. See those eyes, the little eyes on everything.....THEY MOVED!!!
And here are a few shots of Lyghtnings 4th outfit :) Look, more yellow than blue. I got such a lovely yellow dye from a random box that I had to use it somewhere. Still couldn't get rid of the pink though. It has become her colour lol XD

Grind, grind, grind and level 40!
Late post is late and short because I have work tomorrow so expect a long post at some point tomorrow about my journeys today :)
This post is just to say....Level 40!!!!!! Oh yeah!!!! Been grinding through Wilderrun, which is a pretty awesome area, and was determined to hit 40 before I logged off for the night. Just hit it after smooshing some spiders in the north of the area.
So expect tomorrows post to have more Drusera, balloon squirrels and a shot of Lyghtnings new costume. Might have to make a post of her four current costumes :) I love making them up :)

Wild wild west
Just left Biodome 4 which is a shame because I loved the whole Wild West feel it had going. Plus aside from that glitch with the whole Lyghtning setting on fire, i've enjoyed the quests here. Well I didn't enjoy being bombed by Lopps but i guess you have to take the good with the psychotic crazy.
Though i did find a host roaming around the Biodome. Took a snapshot of her because i literally have no idea what she was there for. There didn't seem to be a quest assigned to her, she seemed to just be there.
And then i took down this guy. Look at that size difference. He's massive. Look at little tiny Lyghtning! Not to mention he was next to crazy huge worm thing. What was that mountain? It was like 'Honey I shrunk the players'.

So far though Carbine, I have to say, crazed bunnies aside, this game is awesome. I'm literally thinking about it all day at work and playing it as soon as i get home. The quests are enjoyable and i'm starting to get into the lore, though that did seem to be a little slow early doors. Plus the battle system is just awesome. Just been playing around with my abilities and i've decided on a new combo to really bring the pain to my enemies. Quite glad i chose the soldier path as well as it means i get to blast more things XD My main gripe at the moment is not having enough bank or inventory spaces for all my crap. I'm loathe to sell clothes just in case they look awesome on Lyghtning. I can't help it. Cosplayer mentality XD

Daily grind
Not so much a 'OMG Lyghtning just did this' post right now. Mostly because I'm not at my computer and i don't have the screenshots i took yesterday. No, this is a post about things i just read on the forums.
I've been hanging out at the Wildstar forums since download, mostly lurking and replying to the odd thread here and there. However the amount of people making posts saying they don't like the grind is totally baffling me. These are people who want to hit the level 50 cap, but don't want to work to get there? How does that even work? That is just such a wrong attitude for a game like this.
As I've mentioned, I have never played an MMORPG before, hence this blog, but I LOVE the RPG genre. I've played loads of RPG console games and for me, the grind to the top is natural progression through the game. You never start a game like that with the best kit, you work for it, you battle bad guys, you run errands for the NPC's, you take part in the story and eventually you get to the top of the game. But the mentality on the forums seems to be that some players want to go into the game and have it all handed to them. Why? Why even bother playing games if that is what you want? Life isn't that easy so why should a game? Doing it that way just saps all the fun from it.
I guess one of the reasons this baffles me is that, coming into this from more console based games, i expected to grind, in fact i enjoy it. Back when I started playing RPG's circa 2003, there would always be that boss or area that I just wasn't levelled enough to handle. So off I'd go, grind for a few hours and then return. I expected quests and I expected to be asked to kill X amount of badguys in an area and I enjoy doing that. Now I realise that not everyone will like what I like, but if your argument is that you don't like a core RPG aspect to the game, then maybe this isn't your type of game? Maybe you'd be better suited with games that only require your attention for an hour or so, if that. Maybe if you aren't prepared to put time into a game to get the rewards from it, then maybe you shouldn't even be playing games. Expecting to be rewarded for nothing more than buying the game and installing it is just crazy.
The simple fact is that, no, you shouldn't be max level, infinite gold and all the best items right off the bat, otherwise what the heck is the point in even playing it? As in life the more time you put into the game the more rewards you'll get from it. To see someone moan because they have to focus while playing Wildstar and can't also watch TV is crazy. You're playing a game or watching TV. Be an adult and pick one!
I like that Wildstar is difficult because it means I focus on it more. I enjoy having to run the length and breadth of Nexus because it means I get to see what the developers have made. I enjoy the quests I have to do as they give me an idea of how this world and it's inhabitants work. I do not expect to get things handed to me on a silver plate. The fact that i had saved up enough gold when I bought my mount was an achievement as was being able to dye my costume the colours I wanted. These were not things i expected to get for free, these were not things that detracted from being able to play the game. These were things I wanted, so i worked for them.
Seriously, if you have to moan and gripe about something as fundamental as the basic gameplay, then it isn't Wildstar that needs to change, it's you that needs to find another game more suited to your play style.
So, rant over, my next post will be something to do with Lyghtning :) Totally didn't get to post yesterday due to being late from work and wanting to hit level 30 :) Tonight's posts will depend on what my mood is following the England vs Uruguay match later. Dear god I hope England can win lol XD

New Costume!!!!
So i've just arrived in Whitevale and my first port of call was to do something with the 2nd costume slot. So, tadaa!!!! New costume!!!!
Not sure which costume i prefer yet. Currently leaning towards costume 1, but i do like this one :) Now to explore Whitevale. This is the first contested area i've been to and i've already seen some Exile players running around.

Even better outfit!!!!!
So not only can i dye clothes, but i can add clothes to my costume that i can't normally wear. So armour that doesn't go with the Spellslinger class can still be added to costumes. Lyghtning looks AWESOME!!!!! And now i'm going to hold onto every bit of clothing i can XD I will test everything now before selling it to see how it looks on her :)
Think i'm going to need some bank slots lol

ERMAGERD!!!!
OMG!!! So i found out how to customise my outfits and holy crap i love it. Like seriously. I get to dye all of Lyghtning's clothes so she's more colour co-ordinated and she looks awesome :D She's currently rocking a baby pink and blue combo because that's what all bad-asses are wearing these days.
Seriously though....so...much...fun...
And now the cosplayer in me is like 'make a shiny awesome costume so you can make it IRL'. Wildstar cosplay....the thought has crossed my mind lol XD
